ESMOD and MATTEL teamed up for an exclusive design contest for Barbie and Ken dolls. The American toy company called upon ESMOD to design a new wardrobe for the iconic couple, who over the past 60 years, have toured the world, been featured in various exhibits, and have been dressed by the some of the greatest fashion houses (Moschino, Karl Lagerfeld, Christian Louboutin, etc.)
This year, it was up to the students of ESMOD France to present their vision of Barbie by creating unique designer-inspired looks. In total, nearly 80 students participated in this contest. The Mattel and ESMOD teams selected 20 out of those 80 for the final round of the competition. Those 20 students were judged online by a jury of industry professionals, including fashion journalists, ESMOD alumni designers and NATOO a French influencer. NATOO also dropped by ESMOD Paris to meet the finalists, all of whom had the opportunity to share their inspirations and incentives for dressing Barbie their way.
