Fashion Design and Fashion Business students got the opportunity to pool their knowledge and implement a joint eco-friendly project as part of a hybridisation week held from 3-7 January.
It all came about as a result of meeting Florence from ELIS,
a company that rents and maintains textile items including clothes, tablecloths, sheets, bobbins, towels, hand towels, floor cloths and mats.
With a view to adopting a circular economy approach, something that is key to the ELIS business model, and engaging its top managers in matters of sustainable development, Elis wanted to highlight an up-cycling initiative it was undertaking in collaboration with the ESMOD Lyon school, which boasts significant creative experience in the field of eco-friendliness.
The collaborative initiative, in which several groups of 4 fashion business and fashion design students were invited to participate, focused on bringing students together to analyse, recover, deconstruct and reconstruct by overcycling ELIS textile products to design and produce new looks.
The project also aimed to establish communication by means of the production of a magazine cover and a video montage of the creative process and the drafting of a press release regarding the ELIS-ESMOD Lyon project.
A professional panel was recently held and a €2,000 prize awarded to the most relevant and creative concept.
